Frequently Asked Questions
A QR (Quick Response) code is a two-dimensional barcode that smartphones can scan to instantly open a URL, connect to WiFi, save a contact or perform other actions. They were invented in 1994 and are now used everywhere from restaurant menus to product packaging.
On iPhone open the Camera app and point it at the QR code — a notification appears to open the link. On Android most camera apps scan QR codes automatically. If yours does not, search your app store for a free QR code scanner.
A QR code can hold up to about 3,000 characters of text or 7,000 numeric digits. For URLs, keep them as short as possible — shorter URLs create simpler QR codes that scan more reliably, especially when printed small.
Standard QR codes never expire — they are just encoded data. However if the URL they point to goes offline or changes, the QR code will stop working. Use our QR Tracker feature to create dynamic QR codes you can update without reprinting.
